{Happy Friday!}

Now don't be haters, but I won't be around tomorrow as I'm going with my darling to watch a New York Jets practice. He supposes that because I'm a girl I have a better chance at getting autographs from the players. I have a few posts scheduled, but if I'm unable to check in, I wish you all a fantastic weekend! Batton down the hatches fellow east coasters, a storm is rolling in!

Weekend Getaway

My honey and I are gettin' out of Dodge for the weekend. We're visiting my Aunt and Uncle in upstate New York, which should be quiet and peaceful. It is a much needed break as we've both been running on empty the past few weeks. I'll have my trusty laptop with me (I can't leave my work for three whole days) in case I am totally inspired. Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Friday!

Can you believe summer is half over? I'm incredulous at the moment. But, in my most dramatic Scarlett O'Hara voice, I declare that I am resolved not to think about it today; I'll think about it tomorrow.

Make the best of the rest of these lazy summer days. I took a trip out to one of my local farms to pick flowers this morning. It didn't take me very long, and the flowers were super inexpensive ($3/doz), but the satisfaction I felt after was immeasurable. I may go back next week to get more for a photo shoot I'm doing (stay tuned!).

Whatever you choose to do, enjoy the weekend!

Happy Friday!

This has been a long week for me. I've started two other blogs and have day to day life issues to take care of. It's often assumed by friends and family that because I work from home, I must have a great deal of free time; that couldn't be further from the truth!

I'm also affected by the weather. Here in the Northeast, it's been raining all week. Being couped up in the house is getting to me. But I need to remember how when I was a kid, I loved to run in the rain, stomp in puddles, and catch rain drops on my tongue. I need to find joy in the world around me, not the one I wish for.

Happy Friday!

It's summertime...get yourself outside with a good book! Whether it's in town or the country, find yourself a quiet little patch of grass or sand, throw down a blanket, and lose yourself in a novel. I'm in the middle of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies". It delivers everything you'd expect from the title. A bit of an improvement from the sometimes preachy and overly-existential "Eat, Pray, Love", in the way of light reading, anyway.

Myself, I like the classics. Books these days are either mindless (James Patterson) or far too wrought with emotion (Jodi Picoult). Give me Jane Austen and a beach chair any day of the week!

Happy Friday!

So far, this Summer has been a bust for me. Aside from the daily dousing of rain here in the Northeast, I've been trying to care for my father who has cancer and my future mother in law, recently stricken with pneumonia. Life can some times put the joys of wedding planning on the back burner. It's hard to be inspired when you are responsible for making sure another person takes the right medication or going to doctor after doctor with a loved one.

One thing I've learned though is to take some time each day for yourself, even if it's only thirty minutes, to enjoy life's small pleasures.

Happy Friday!

It has bee raining for weeks here in the Northeast, and my perkiness is ebbing. So, I dream. Fishing in a river sounds wonderful right about now.

No matter what the weather, remember to make every moment count.
