JCrew Flower Girl Dresses

After coming across the Crew Cuts sale at JCrew today, I am considering an increases in the number of flower girls I have from 0 to 8. How flippin' cute are these dresses?!?! If these dresses had cheeks, I'd pinch them off. I'd like one of each in my size please and thank you.

The best part? Most of them are less than $40. The tot's mom will thank you.

Kleinfelds Bridal Sample Sale!

I just received notice today of Kleinfelds annual sample sale! See details below.

If you don't live in the New York area, fret not my friends! There are other ways to get beautiful designer gowns for a fraction of the price! Consider it your environmental duty! Here are some of my favorite sources for pre-owned and sample gowns.

Bride Power in Newton, MA- this is where I bought my gorgeous Carolina Herrera gown. I saw the gown featured in Martha Stewart Weddings and fell to pieces over it. I searched high and low, to no avail. Brides from across the country were emailing the girl who wore the dress in the magazine to track one down! Alas, it was from 2004, and the fabric is no longer made. I looked on bridepower.com's website, and didn't see it. On a whim, I sent them an email, pleading with the girls there to keep their eyes out for this dress. An hour later, I received a response that they had the dress in stock, and that is the story of how I found my dress.

www.preownedweddingdresses.com Some are (as the name indicates) pre-worn, others are samples. It's fun to brows through the different gowns, even if you are skeptical about purchasing over the internet!

etsy- Look through their vintage gowns. There are some beauties! I recently featured one such dress that was selling for $350! And it was to die for!

If you are one of those girls who's looking for the princess experience, this isn't for you. If you're looking to save a boat load of money and be environmentally friendly, I strongly recommend you at least consider the a sample or pre-owned gown.

Rehearsing the Part

Posting fabulous Etsy finds never gets old. I came across this gorgeous reconstructed Gunne Sax dress the other day and thought it would make a perfect rehearsal dinner dress for a bride planning a garden or beach wedding. It is sure to set the tone for what's to come.

see dress here

To be honest, this dress could be a bride's wedding dress for a casual affair. And at a cool $54.00, how can you go wrong?!

I paired up the dress with sandals from Mystique and headband from Anthropologie.

Always look beyond the typical wedding stores for awesome ideas and products. You'll often find better deals and higher quality.

It's a Deal

I'm a notorious wheeler and dealer. Other than a few rare moments in my life, I never pay retail. To me, finding a bargain is like playing hide and seek as a child. Half of the fun is the search. So when I stumbled upon ThreeDollarEarrings, a fabulous boutique on Etsy, I had to share it with everyone. Check out some of the awesome designs:

Victoria Earring

Bronte Earring

Cottage Rose Earring

I'm thinking about buying a boat load and keeping them on hand for emergencies. These earrings are just as pretty as the ones you find in expensive boutiques. You can't afford not to add a few pairs to your bridesmaid gift bags.

And the best part? Most of them are $3.00! The priciest I came across are $7.00. I know, say what?!

Say What?! Big Day Look for Under $500!

We are all more thrifty these days. Tightening the purse strings doesn't mean you have to skimp on style. I found this head to toe ensemble for less than $480!

Jessica McClintock Clutch, $41 from Zappos; Pearl Necklace, $28 from Etsy; BCBG Silk Gown, $360 from Nordstrom; Chiffon Headband, $4.80 from Forever 21; Little Larsen Earrings, $28 from Anthropologie; RSVP Sandals, $14.80 from 6PM shoes.
I'm not kidding; those shoes are 14.80! So, if you find yourself thinking it's impossible to find an affordable wedding dress and accessories, look in stores and online sites that aren't primarily targeting brides.

She had Flowers in Her Hair

Hair flowers are a hot accessory this year. Every boutique is getting in on the trend. Here are several styles from Anthropologie that I like:

From left to right: Twisted Taffy Silk Headband, $38; Lilac Breeze Barrette in Canary, $18; Pink Chiffon Hair Scrunchy, $12; Chiffon Headband, $38; Silk Rose Hairpin, $15

Check out Urban Outfitters and the go-to place for cheap trendy items, Forever 21.

Forever 21 from left: Chiffon Headband, $4.80; Floral Bobby Pins, $3.80; Vintage Lace Headband, $1.50

Urban Outfitters: Beaded Hair Wrap, $24; Floral Hair Clip, $20

Project #2

I never understand why brides choose silk flowers for wedding centerpieces. There are so many other options available that don't scream dollar store discount bin. I used to work for a flower shop and cringed every time a bride came in wanting "permanent" flowers for the reception tables. So, I did this super simple project to show everyone that there are other ways to have a lasting memory from your wedding day that don't look like a nursing home projects.

I bought a bag of shells and a tall apothecary jar with a lid. Fill the jar with said shells, and voila! A beautiful keepsake for you and some of your special guests. The best part? It cost $11.99! $5.99 for the jar and $6.00 for the shells. Please comment for online links of where to buy.
